Lead-tainted venison bill moving in New York legislature

What some are labeling a “back door lead ammo ban” has begun to make its way though the state legislature. 
If passed, Bill A10352/S9473, known as the “lead-free game donation act,” would prohibit the donation of wild game taken by hunters using lead ammunition. If a deer is killed by a hunter using lead ammo, it would not be allowed to be donated for human consumption. On its website, the New York State Conservation Council said that should the bill become law it would significantly reduce the amount of venison donated each year.
