Beretta Holding pushes for more control of Sturm, Ruger

Beretta Holding, a global family-owned industrial group headquartered in the tax-haven nation of Luxembourg, is continuing a recent trend of European conglomerates steadily increasing their presence in the American firearms industry.
Czech manufacturer CZ purchased Colt in 2021, bringing one of the most iconic American brands under European ownership. Czechoslovak Group now controls companies associated with Remington and Federal Premium ammunition.

Wisconsin’s Lac du Flambeau tribe bans all walleye, muskie fishing by non-tribal members

The Lac du Flambeau (LdF) Chippewa tribe announced last week, in an unprecedented action, that its tribal council voted to ban fishing of walleyes and muskies by non-tribal members on a number of lakes inside the reservation, located about 10 miles west of Woodruff.
In that same action tribal council members also banned forward trolling for any species of fish on all LdF waters. This all comes about a month ahead of the Saturday, May 2, Wisconsin fishing opener.

Northern Wisconsin muskie season to coincide with May 2 opener

Hwy. 10 divides Wisconsin into a southern and northern muskie zone. In the past, the Northern Zone opened the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. Starting this year, with a rule change, the muskie season opens the same day statewide, the first Saturday in May – May 2 this year.
“Anytime we can simplify regulations, that’s a positive,” said Jordan Weeks, of the DNR’s muskie team. “Making things easier for folks is something we’re interested in. We’re not going to make something simple just to make it simple. It has to make sense biologically, as well, and this really does.”

Ask a fisheries biologist: Early spring fishing opportunities in Wisconsin

Anglers often overlook early spring, but this period offers some exceptional fishing at a time with limited outdoor opportunities. Starting in 2026, some new opportunities go along with the tried and true favorites.
The release trout season starts in January, but the harvest season now opens the first Saturday in April. Check the trout regulations for size and bag limits.
