More gun rights groups lining up against N.Y. public nuisance law

The Second Amendment Foundation and the National Rifle Association have both joined the efforts of the National Shooting Sports Foundation in petitioning the United States Supreme Court to take up the latter group’s NSSF v. James court case. The case seeks to protect firearms manufacturers from being held liable, in certain cases, if their products are used in crimes.

Critical vote on Minnesota’s BWCA watershed mining resolution likely later today

A Congressional resolution affecting the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in Minnesota that passed the U.S. House in January could see a critical vote in the Senate today.
An up-or-down vote on House Joint Resolution 140 will either repeal a 20-year moratorium on copper-sulfide mining in the Rainy River watershed around the BWCA, or allow that Biden-era decision to stand.

Minnesota’s 2025 hunting year one of safest ever

Last year was one of the safest years for Minnesota hunters in state history in terms of the number of hunting-related incidents reported across all seasons.
There was just one injury reported in 2025. That’s down from 14 incidents in 2024, which included a fatality from Clay County during the firearms deer season.

Great-granddaughter, 4, inspires 87-year-old Wisconsin deer hunter

Ask any deer hunter – especially one with a few seasons under the belt – what’s looked forward to most during the hunt, and there’s a good chance the reply will have something to do with time spent with family and friends.
Bill Taubman, of Shell Lake, Wis., is one of those hunters. Taubman hiked into his opening day deer stand for his 75th time in November. This year his hunting partner was 83 years younger than him.

Anglers who fish the Schroon recently received good news when New York State awarded funding that will provide better access to the river while also helping to protect water quality.
