Wisconsin DNR’s annual burning key to forest health, maintenance

Wisconsin residents have a new way to stay up-to-date on the DNR’s prescribed burning program.
An online dashboard on the DNR’s website lists information on the program, which consists of controlled fires to improve habitat, reduce invasive plant species, stimulate wildflowers and grasses, and control brush. The DNR launched the dashboard in 2021, said Michele Witecha DNR, prescribed fire specialist.
