Cincinnati — Nearly a dozen coyotes were found dead on the side of a hill in a suburb of Cincinnati, officials said.
According to a report from CBS affiliate WKRC TV in Cincinnati, the dead canines were found on a hillside off Gallia Drive in Miami Township.
The mid-March discovery came after residents in the Hamilton County suburb complained about a strong odor coming from the hillside.

A spokesperson for the ODNR Division of Wildlife (DOW) told the news outlet that the coyotes appeared to have been shot. The agency is investigating the incident. The canines were found on private property, according to the news story.
“The investigation is ongoing, primarily as a private property litter investigation,” the DOW spokesperson told WKRC.
Officials advised area residents to avoid the hillside if at all possible because coyotes can carry disease.
Miami Township administrators are also asking area residents to check their home surveillance feeds to see if anything suspicious turns up.
At the time of this writing in late March, the Division of Wildlife investigation was continuing.
