Snow geese advancing north fast, and more moisture needed to boost duck production
The spring snow goose migration is on – and it appears to be happening fast.
As of Tuesday morning, parts of the midcontinent flock of lesser snows are moving north quickly across several states, buoyed by recent summer-like temperatures and stiff southern winds. With no discernible snowline to stop adult snow geese from migrating to their Canadian Arctic breeding grounds (a forecasted weekend snow storm could change that), waterfowlers should prepare to hunt sooner rather than later.
