“It was the Ides of March,” recalled Dan Halling. “That’s a pretty good start to the story, right? But it was, it was March 15, and it was a pretty good day for me.”
Halling was roaming the grounds of the former Badger Army Ammunition Plant in Sauk County, Wis., when he saw what he initially thought was a set of elk antlers protruding from the underbrush.

Illinois DNR sets 10 CWD meetings to share updates with the public

Hunters killed 18,309 deer in the state’s 21 CWD counties during the 2023-24 season, lending creed to the Illinois DNR’s contention that harvests in affected areas have remained consistent – the 5-year average harvest for the same counties stands at just below 18,000.
