Tom Venesky: Pennsylvania’s Sunday hunting issue swaddled in hypocrisy

The debate over Sunday hunting legislation has been beaten to death in Pennsylvania, but the latest banter has revealed quite a bit of hypocrisy.
And a few problems. First, I believe Sunday hunting is a big enough issue that, as a bill, it should stand on its own. A single subject bill – as the Sunday bill should be – ensures that an issue is judged – and voted on – based on its own merit. Michigan task force recommends more info on life-cycle of steelhead

What Michigan steelhead experts know is how little they know about parts of the life-cycle of these migratory rainbow trout, and they’re mapping ways to fix that.
DNR Lake Michigan Basin Fisheries Coordinator Jay Wesley, Michigan Trout Unlimited’s Brian Burroughs, and former Natural Resources Commission member David Cozad briefed the commission, which oversees DNR policies and programs, on research sifted and compiled by the Steelhead Task Group.

Jeremiah Haas: Finding other advocates for the outdoors

Maryland snakehead record broken by 21.8-pounder

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources recently recognized Matt Foreman, of Crownsville, as the new state record holder for Chesapeake channa – also known as northern snakehead (Channa argus) – in the state’s Invasive Division.
Foreman caught the 21.8-pound fish by bowfishing on the evening of June 7 in the Susquehanna River below the Conowingo Dam.
