While some areas of New York remained dry to the point where wildfires continued to be a risk this spring, rainy weather has plagued many parts of the state as of late, and surely played a role during the state’s annual youth turkey hunting weekend, as well as the first week of the spring gobbler season.
The regular turkey hunting season began May 1, and for many hunters their first outings were Saturday and Sunday, May 3-4. Once again, wet weather greeted hunters, especially in eastern and northern New York.
