Michigan DNR to consider revising state’s furbearer regulations next year

An issue Michigan hunters have brought to the DNR is whether there should be a prohibition on year-round coyote hunting in the Upper Peninsula. The DNR says it will consider the matter and other furbearer questions as 2025 unfolds. (Stock photo)

In conjunction with its fur harvester user group, the Michigan Department on Natural Resources has identified a number of issues to explore next year to see if the current regulations are overly onerous.
For instance, the prohibition on year-round coyote harvest is causing some heartburn among deer hunters in the Upper Peninsula.
