Mary Mertz, director of the Ohio DNR, along with a dozen local officials cut the ribbon on a remodeled and improved Horace R. Collins Geological Survey Lab on Oct. 18. The lab is located inside Alum Creek State Park between Columbus and Delaware in Ohio.
The state spent $1.1 million to update the lab’s exterior, interior and signage. It also added educational displays that highlight the local geology, Lake Erie’s glacial history, and the lab’s ability to record and track earthquakes in Ohio.
