There are quiet lakes and good fishing to be had across Michigan in the fall

Fall fishing is fantastic. In the past I spent a lot of time hunting waterfowl in the fall, but I’m backing off my waterfowl hunts this year and getting  serious about fall fishing.
What follows are some Michigan destinations you’ll want to put on your fall fishing calendar.

Researchers follow wood ducks on Illinois River to better understand fall patterns

In summer, wood ducks along the Illinois River make good use of the woods – living up to the name given to one of the state’s most popular species. It’s what they do after July that has long intrigued Illinois Natural History Survey scientists.
So a number of woodies were outfitted with cell phone-like transmitters, as well as more traditional radio-telemetry devices, over the course of three autumns. Tracking movements and meanderings of the ducks provided plenty of insight and plenty of things to consider.

John Tertuliani: A brief history on reloading ammunition

As long as I can remember, reloading presses stood in the basement. Two for shotgun shells and the single-stage for rifle cartridges.
Dad let me reload as soon as I was man enough to ditch the diapers. Looking back, I cannot believe he let me do the entire process. Perhaps he knew I would do exactly as he said, with or without him. Maybe weighing gunpowder bored him beyond his interest level. I trickled out every load of 4831 to the exact weight, having to take a couple of the rod-shaped (stick) granules out if the balance beam scale went over the line.

The payment to Dr. James Kroll by the Scott Walker administration will go down as the biggest waste of deer management money the state of Wisconsin has ever made. Kroll was asked to come up with a management plan for white-tailed deer in Wisconsin when most of his experience is with fenced deer in Texas. The number of differences between Wisconsin and Texas would take up a book.
