Youth angler is 13th FishMaryland Master Angler

Landon Derbyshire, of Eden, Maryland, has earned a Master Angler Milestone Award under the Maryland Department of Natural Resources’ FishMaryland program.
Derbyshire is the 13th Master Angler since the program began in 2019 and the second youth angler to win the award, having met his qualifications at age 15. The award recognizes recreational anglers who catch 10 trophy-sized fish of different species in Maryland.

Interest in Pennsylvania’s Boating Facility Grant program on the rise

A Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission grant program designed to increase boating opportunities has been growing in popularity since it was implemented in 2020.
The Boating Facility Grant program provides grants for planning, acquisition, development, expansion and rehabilitation of public boating facilities located on the waters in the state. The agency used to have a similar grant program years ago, and it was reinstated four years ago by Executive Director Tim Schaeffer.

Pennsylvania state land payments increase again

In a win for rural communities, the state is increasing its payment in lieu of taxes per acre for state park, game lands and forest lands and fishing and boating access property for the second time in two years.
It applies to land managed by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, the Pennsylvania Game Commission and the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission.
