Pennsylvania state land payments increase again

Payments are designed to help host municipalities with high amounts of state land offset loss of local property tax revenue. (File photo courtesy of Pennsylvania Game Commission)

In a win for rural communities, the state is increasing its payment in lieu of taxes per acre for state park, game lands and forest lands and fishing and boating access property for the second time in two years.
It applies to land managed by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, the Pennsylvania Game Commission and the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission.
