This time around I took the same youth in consecutive years, a first for me. Unfortunately, unlike last year when we had a bird tagged by 6:30 a.m., we weren’t so lucky this year. Four jakes at 80 yards and a cautious mature gobbler at 50 was the best I could do for my 14-year-old mentee, who could only hunt one day.
