While working the New York Outdoor News booth at the CNY Sportsman’s Show in Verona last month I was approached by a 20-something turkey hunter who questioned if New York’s spring turkey season should be held two weeks sooner than its current May 1-31 duration. I braced for the old “that’s when they’re easier to kill” routine when I asked him on what grounds he was offering his suggestion. But what I got – and much to my pleasant surprise – was some well thought out answers.
