Pennsylvania man convicted in drone deer recovery sting intends to appeal

The case apparently marked the first time anyone has been cited and tried in Pennsylvania for using a drone to recover a dead game animal and it hinged on whether Joshua Wingenroth, 35, of Downingtown, was involved in hunting as defined by state law. (Stock photo)

The owner of a drone deer recovery business in Chester County was found guilty of several counts following an undercover sting operation by the Pennsylvania Game Commission.
Joshua Wingenroth, 35, was found guilty of two counts of using illegal electronic devices during hunting, disturbing game or wildlife, and violation of regulations on recreational spotlighting during a Feb. 22 summary trial in Lancaster County.
