Minnesota’s waterfowl season frameworks take shape for this fall

One change to the 2026 waterfowl-hunting season in Minnesota is raising the pintail daily bag limit from two birds to three. (Stock photo)

The season frameworks for the 2026 waterfowl-hunting season are virtually identical to 2025, according to the Minnesota DNR.
The only change is raising the pintail daily bag limit from two birds to three – a move that’s allowable under the 2025 interim harvest strategy established by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
“We felt we were leaving some opportunity on the table,” said Nate Huck, DNR migratory bird consultant.
