Well-known albino buck from Spooner, Wis., area found dead after nearly 15-year history

The albino buck from the town of Scott, Wis., near Spooner, was well known in the area, a true celebrity for 14 to 15 years. Many photos were taken of the buck, seen here in his prime in a trail camera photo provided by Rick Hanson, of Minocqua.

It was a dark, rainy morning when Washburn County Highway Commissioner Brian Danielsen called a homeowner at the intersection of county roads A and H in the Burnett County town of Scott.
“It’s the end of an era,” he said. “The King is dead. We found him this morning.”
For the past 14 or 15 years, the “King” has been a majestic albino white-tailed buck living in the area.
