Minnesota’s pheasant hunt receives high grades this season

A Minnesota two-person limit of roosters from a December day under mild weather conditions, which have greeted hunters plenty this year. From Dec. 1 through the end of the season on Jan. 1, 2024, hunters in Minnesota can take a daily limit of three roosters, with a possession limit of nine. (Photo by Eric Morken)

Is there a growing schism within the pheasant-hunting community?
Probably not, but there definitely are hunters who, during this oddly mild December, are haunted by visions of snow and cattails … and roosters. There also is a cadre of those who’ve been rejoicing that Ma Nature has provided a late season that doesn’t remotely resemble last year’s overly white version.
