Battling two coho salmon at the same time by father and son was a highlight of a trip to Alaska. While on a morning charter outing, the first fish hit a squid-jig down about 40 feet and the rod began pumping up and down as I tried to begin reeling in the fish.
The next thing I knew a second rod pumped up and down, which my son, Shawn Eisele, of Juneau, Alaska, took up and began reeling in. As we gained line, each reel, in turn, squealed as each fish pulled line against the drag. We eventually began gaining line back on the reel.
