Local fisheries managers are responding to angler desire for bigger sunfish by seeking out specific lakes that would be a good fit for improving sunfish size quality by reducing sunfish bag limits.

The fishing and hunting report is compiled using reports from conservation officers, hunting guides and fishing guides. North Chain: Bluegills were good in shallow water. Crappies were good on minnows and light jigs in channels. Northern pike were hitting spinnerbaits and spoons. Catfish are biting nightcrawlers or fatheads. Muskies were very good, hitting on spinners.

Although hunting is not the cause of the decline, the Division and the Fish and Game Council says current grouse population levels cannot support a hunt at this time.

Western New York Moss is still an issue in the Niagara River, but fish are available if you can solve the moss problem. Lisa Drabczyk with Creek Road Bait and Tackle reported some decent bass action in the lower river, but you do have to work for them. Shoreline access was minimal in the lower
