Authorities say newly installed technology on Owasco, Seneca and Skaneateles Lakes will quickly detect changing water-quality conditions that could indicate a harmful algal bloom, or HAB, is developing.

North Dakota Game and Fish biologists have been conducting their annual spring walleye spawning operations on Lake Sakakawea in recent days and the results have been extremely good, maybe the best ever in the history of the state’s biggest body of water.
The most recent count last year turned up 67 breeding pairs of the sand-colored birds. That’s an improvement from the low point of 12 pairs in 1990 but a slight drop from 76 pairs two years ago.
Since 2016, a total of 51 CWD-positive wild deer have been identified.
Northwest Zone – Captain Laura Petreikis In Carroll County, CPO Palumbo received a disposition in a case regarding a Thomson man arrested for unlawful take of a trophy caliber white-tailed buck on property he did not have permission to hunt. The man pled guilty; and his fines, costs, and processing fees were more than $600.
