Slinger, Wis. — The Aldo Leopold Foundation (ALF) has retained the services of Bast Durbin Advertising to help market and create a new book titled “A Conservationist’s Guide to Hunting.”
“We have several goals for this project including recruiting new hunters and increasing the number of people who are ‘hunting-curious’ and are considering hunting,” said Alanna Koshollek, evaluation coordinator for ALF.
Koshollek also said the group hopes the handbook will inspire current hunters to mentor new people in the sport and help build better support for hunting and its critical contributions to conservation.
“This book can be a new tool for them (ALF) to help open the eyes of potential new hunters in a very user-friendly way in a style that educates from a different prospective, said Dan Durbin, one of the owners of the Bast Durbin. “As hunters ourselves, we owe it to the sport to try and approach hunter-recruitment in new ways, and this book does just that.”
ALF is hoping industry manufacturers and other non-profit groups will help support the project.
“We see this handbook as a tool that organizations and manufacturers can use to help recruit new hunters through their audiences and in their geography,” Koshollek said.
