Outdoorsmen urge committee to back woodchuck hunting season

Semiautomatic rifles would need to be .22 caliber or less to hunt small game, woodchucks (pictured above) or furbearers within Special Regulations Areas.

A number of other Great Lakes states allow woodchuck hunting, including Minnesota, Michigan, Illinois and even Pennsylvania, which is home of Punxsutawney Phil, the famous groundhog that predicts the length of winters.
