Northwest Minnesota Fishing Report – January 17th, 2014
There’s some evening walleye action on Lake Darling, Lake Carlos, Lake Le Homme Dieu, and Lake Miltona in 16 to 20 feet or Lake Ida in 24 to 26 feet. Crappies are being found suspended over 30 feet during low-light periods on Darling and Ida. On Le Homme Dieu, sunfish are going in 18 feet and crappies are being found over 28 to 32 feet.

Suckers are turning pike in 15 to 18 feet on Blanche Lake, West Battle Lake, and Silver Lake. Crappies and sunfish are along the weeds in 10 to 14 feet at Silver, Blanche, and Bogen Lake. Look to Rush Lake and Pelican Lake for walleyes during low-light periods in 17 to 22 feet or on West Battle in 25 to 35 feet.

Spoons or deadsticks and shiners are producing walleyes in 18 to 20 feet on lakes Sallie, Melissa, Big Cormorant, Pelican, and the south end of Big Detroit. Crappies and sunfish remain active on the 12-foot weeds out to 15 feet on Floyd Lake, Severson Lake, Deadshot Bay, Sour Lake, Little Pelican Lake, and Big Detroit. Pike action is consistently good in less than 10 feet on most lakes.

PARK RAPIDS AREA
Walleyes are hitting spoons or setlines and fatheads at Fish Hook Lake in 18 to 22 feet during the evening. Sucker minnows are producing northern pike on Big Mantrap Lake in 14 feet. Look for sunfish in 12 to 14 feet and crappies over 28 to 30 feet on the Crow Wing Chain of Lakes.

Look for walleyes in 12 to 20 feet or suspended crappies over 20 to 40 feet on Big Pine Lake. On Rush Lake and Star Lake, you’ll find sunfish in 12 feet and crappies over 30 feet. Perch and walleyes are being caught in 25 to 40 feet at Otter Tail Lake. Lake Marion and Buchanan Lake are giving up a mixed bag of panfish in 12 to 25 feet and spearing has been strong on Big Pine and Little Pine Lake.
