Metro Area Fishing Report – March 29th, 2013


Jigs and fatheads are producing walleyes in Pool 2 on the Mississippi River. White Bear Lake is giving up crappies during the day in 10 feet and at night in 15 feet on glow jigs and minnows. Sunfish action has improved on Lake Jane in 10 feet.

Lake conditions are improving and trucks are being used on most lakes, but there hasn’t been a lot of people fishing. The best reports are from the Dexter Lake side of Whaletail Lake for crappies in 16 to 18 feet.

The few people fishing are finding some crappies and sunfish in 15 to 19 feet throughout Phelp’s Bay, Carson’s Bay, and the North Arm on Lake Minnetonka. Lake Sarah is giving up panfish in 24 to 28 feet.

Anglers are moving around much better in this area and finding panfish while doing so. Lakes Marie, Sylvia, Francis, French, Clearwater, Sugar, Maple, and Buffalo are giving up sunfish and crappies in 10 to 12 feet. There’s been a night bite for crappies over 20 feet on Pleasant Lake, Lake John, and Granite Lake.

Crappies and sunfish are being caught on the south end of Chisago Lake from the A-Frame to County Road 83 in six feet. You’ll also find sunfish out from the court house on North Center Lake in eight feet.
