The country’s first ever sanctioned high school fishing
tournament kicked
off at 7 a.m. this morning at Carlyle Lake. A calm and cloudy
morning
turned wet when heavy raind began to fall at about 10 a.m. The
53 teams
from around the state were originally scheduled to fish until 3
p.m., but
thundering skies has led officials to call in the boats.
Illinois High School Association Fishing Coordinator Dave
Gannaway will be
making his way to the main stage in a few minutes to discuss how
the
tournament’s first day scoring will be determined. The tops
teams from
today will fish again at 7 a.m. Saturday for the state
championship.
