Duluth, Minn. The Minnesota DNR is expanding the Moose Mountain Scientific and Natural Area and has extended the deadline for public comment until March 31, 2004.

The current 55-acre Moose Mountain SNA was established in 1989 to protect old-growth sugar maple, basswood, and oak forest, along with plant and animal species. Madelia, Minn. DNR wildlife researcher Chris DePerno will be leaving his post in Madelia and taking on a new job at North Carolina State University in May.

DePerno has been with the DNR for five years and has been involved in deer and coyote research, as well as chronic wasting disease issues. At N.C.
