DePerno has been with the DNR for five years and has been
involved in deer and coyote research, as well as chronic wasting
disease issues. At N.C. State, he’ll be an assistant professor,
conducting research and providing public education through the
university’s extension service.
DePerno said he enjoys educating and informing the public, which
was a large aspect of dealing with the threat of CWD. “There will
be many people at the DNR I’ll miss working with,” he said.
