St. Paul The 34th annual Minnesota Sportsmen’s Boat, Camping and Vacation Show comes to St. Paul’s RiverCentre, Jan. 7-11.

The show features about 500 exhibits including new boats, motors, and fishing gear; daily seminars by hunting and fishing experts such as Bruce Samson; and special attractions including Brody the Bear, The Great American Duck Races, and a live trout pond. Alexandria, Minn. A pair of Minnesota anglers claimed the $10,000 check and matching gold rings by winning the second North American Ice Fishing Championship, held Dec. 21 on Lake Ida near Alexandria.

Joe Honer, of St. Cloud, and Ray Legatt, of Rice, located some good-sized crappies to go along with some of the lake’s abundant sunfish. Their 14 fish weighed 6.58 pounds. The championship field was made up of 50 two-person teams that qualified by finishing in the top 10 at last winter’s Ice Team “Trap Attack”
