Ohio Insider: Some interesting current deer trends as the season nears

When the calendar turns to August, we typically start shifting our attention somewhat to the upcoming fall deer season.

We have had plenty of whitetail coverage in recent issues of Outdoor News. And, don’t miss our early archery season preview with Ohio DNR Division of Wildlife Deer Program Administrator Clint McCoy in the Aug. 28 issue. For purposes of writing in this space, I listened to one of the National Deer Association’s (NDA) Deer Season 365 podcasts for a primer on the fall hunt.
