Newtown, Conn. The National Shooting Sports Foundation has awarded the DNR a $15,000 grant from its Hunting Heritage Partnership to fund a public service announcement radio campaign.

Minnesota’s PSA radio campaign will promote hunting in the state with the goal of increasing hunter participation. The campaign will emphasize the benefits of hunting as well as the resulting conservation impact of sportsmen and women. An estimated 1.6 million Minnesotans fish and nearly 600,000 hunt, resulting in $2.17 in spending in the state.

St. Paul Due to dry weather conditions, the DNR announced last week it has suspended 37 water use permits in 10 state watersheds. Included in the suspensions are water permits for 18 golf courses.

The suspensions were triggered by stream flow or basin water levels dropping below protected levels. Permits for low priority water uses have been suspended in the following watersheds: St. Louis, Nemadji, Mississippi, Grand Rapids, Watonwan, upper St. Croix, Zumbro, Bois de Sioux, Mustinka, and Vermillion.
