DULUTH AREA
Hit the eight- to 10-foot weedbeds for bluegills and the Highbanks area in 14 feet for crappies on Fish Lake. Island Lake is producing small walleyes in 10 to 12 feet, smallmouth bass on the shallow structure, and topwater baits have turned a few muskies here. Coho salmon and lake trout action continues to be strong with glow spoons about 60 to 80 feet down on Lake Superior. Bear hunting has gone well and most hunters are reporting a lot of activity at baits.
