Applications available for antlerless deer seasons in West Virginia

Posted on July 19, 2012

South Charleston, W.Va. (AP) - The Division of Natural Resources is now taking applications for the 2012 antlerless deer season.

Wildlife Resources chief Curtis Taylor says the forms are available at all district offices, the Elkins Operations Center and the Charleston headquarters.

They also can be downloaded online.

Completed applications are due by the close of business Aug. 24.

The DNR says the limited antlerless deer season gives 650 residents and non-residents a chance to participate on the three Wildlife Management areas and national forest land in Tucker County.

An additional 1,500 residents and non-residents will be selected to hunt in five counties that are restricted to antlerless deer hunting. Those are Clay, Fayette, Nicholas, Pocahontas and Webster.
