It’s fall, but a hot fishing bite can still be had.
On Lake Erie, anglers were seeing good walleye catches from Sturgeon Point to west of Cattaraugus Creek.
Trout anglers, especially stream/river anglers with fly-rod in hand, should be back on the banks soon.
Water levels running high across much of the state. So how’s that impacting the bite?
The New York DEC has proposed regulations to increase the daily possession limit of walleye in Oneida Lake from 3 fish/day, to the statewide daily possession limit of 5 fish/day. This proposal stems from annual
Streams like the Salmon River in Pulaski should start cranking up soon, and east Lake Ontario will also be a hot-spot in the coming weeks.
Anglers are still catching plenty of bass and pike.
On Lake Ontario, Salmon are being caught in 150 to 500-plus feet of water on cut-bait, spoons and lashers and flies.
Bass and pike fishing (along with chasing walleyes and muskies wherever possible) continue to be hot pursuits.
