The fall bite is on – so where are they biting and what are they biting on?

With weather patterns changing almost daily, water temperatures have been jumping all over the place and that seems to have had a negative impact on what had been some excellent walleye fishing across the state.

As an A2 muskie lake, these waters should provide consistent action and may have potential to produce some larger fish.

In the DNR’s most recent survey of the status of the fishery on both Craig and Morrison lakes a total of 26 species were collected.

Fishing pressure has generally been light, except in rivers where salmon are running. Perch fishing has really picked up across the state.

River fishing is a highlight of this week’s report with anglers on the Great Miami, Hocking, and Portage rivers all catching either smallmouth or largemouth bass in good numbers.
