State hunters reported 149,811 deer killed during the 2016-2017 hunting season, down 7.8 percent from the 2015-2016 season.

Bird numbers are recovering, but with weather, hunters may have to put in some time for a successful season.

Agencies have combined to trap and kill 2,332 feral hogs in the first three months of this year, almost half the total of 5,358 feral hogs captured in all of 2016.

Hunting licenses would rise from $10 to $15 and annual fishing licenses would increase from $9 to $15.

This year’s harvest April 22-23 tops numbers from a year ago.
