There are some hard-fighting fresh fish with an occasional 30-plus-inch fish encountered.

Anglers who enjoy targeting world-class pike are already reporting good action on tip-ups and quick-strike rigs. Traditionally, live suckers or a good dead bait will get the flags flying.

Walleyes and perch are being caught through the ice and also in open water.

Heavy fishing activity was observed on this fishery this week. Anglers targeting whitefish had the best success fishing off the drop-offs of Larson’s Reef in around 60 to 85 feet of water using plastic jigs.

The panfish are snapping and the bite is good.

Conditions are good for fresh steelhead migrations here.

Anglers here reported a steady coho salmon bite this past week along with large schools of smelt and cisco throughout the bay.

Mother Nature is playing a little “rollercoaster” with the temps and winds and it definitely had an impact on existing ice conditions.

Yellow perch are the dominant catch lake-wide in weedy areas of 6-15 feet of water at this fishery.
