Wisconsin Outdoor News Fishing Report – January 6, 2022
Ice conditions have improved a lot and that’s likely opened up more opportunities or areas for anglers to look for walleyes.

Ice conditions have improved a lot and that’s likely opened up more opportunities or areas for anglers to look for walleyes.

Despite an extended stretch of cold weather, walleye fishing has been about as good as it’s been all winter.

The ice fishing season is off to a good start in parts of the Upper Peninsula and some of the shallower lakes in the northern Lower Peninsula.

No ice, but trout fishing available in lots of waters.

Steelhead fishing continues to be the top option on northeast Ohio Lake Erie tributaries.

The morning and evening hours are best, but daytime walleye action hasn’t been that bad in many areas. It seems a combination of jigging spoons and deadsticks with minnows are both producing walleyes.

Ice slow to take hold; crappie bite remains good.

There seems to be plenty of ice-fishing opportunities across the northern half of the state.

Hard water anglers are hoping for some cold weather, which should be the case with winter now officially here.
