Walleye action was probably as good this past week as it has been all winter in many areas, especially during low-light periods.

There was a big transition to nightime walleye and crappie activity over the past week.

Ice fishing season is under way in most areas of the state. The shallower lakes have frozen faster than the deeper ones, so extreme caution is advised.

If temperatures stay below freezing across the state in coming days and weeks, look to these early ice-fishing destinations

There isn’t any safe ice on any lake in Ohio just yet. But, anglers are continuing to fish open water, though fishing pressure in most places has been extremely light.

Ice depths continue to improve across the state and there was a definite uptick with truck and wheel house use in many areas.
