Bemidji is full of structure, is loaded with walleyes, jumbo perch, and muskies, and receives heavy fishing pressure, likely due to both its location and its year-round ability to produce fish.
Weather conditions were more stable over the past week and that’s lead to some good walleye fishing.

Fishing reports still slow coming in, but those who are reporting say fishing mostly a mixed bag.
Underwater cameras, which traditionally have seen far more useful in the winter, are becoming more mainstream out on the open water.
Carlton’s muskie population is a surprise to many. There are bigger muskies swimming the waters – it’s included on the list of lakes in Illinois that has yielded a muskie 50 inches or larger.
Lakes in most parts of the state are just now reopening. Due to this, reporting on some lakes and rivers is limited. But anglers who are getting out are reporting fast bass action.
Summer means bass fishing, and across New York, there are endless opportunities for fishing both largemouth and smallmouth bass. And, as “luck” would have it, the bass bite has been intensifying of late.
It seems early, but weeds are developing quickly and they are already giving up a mixed bag of fish in many parts of the state. Look for those weed bites to remain strong.
