South Dakota Fishing Report – August 12, 2026 – video
The number of good walleyes being caught has definitely decreased because of the heat, but hopefully, expected cooler temps will improve the bite.

With walleye fishing remaining strong … a few pointers for those heading onto the water.

Yellow perch fishing on Lake Erie has slowed a bit since our last report but walleye anglers continue to do well.

Salmon starting to move closer to shore in Great Lakes as well as rivers, with some big fish being reported.

When it comes to fishing for bass in weed cover, most anglers wouldn’t use crankbaits. The guys at Angling Buzz tell us why you need to use crankbaits in the weeds.
Use this method when fishing along lake weed edges or near deeper structure or rock areas.

The water temps are really starting to fall and that has helped with the bite. More perch are being caught, and with cool and stable weather, it’s only going to get better in the coming

Fishing has been fairly consistent from last week, although we targeted some shallower fish and changed tactics just a hair.

Scouting for ice fishing in August?

Like a broken record, pulling bottom bouncers and spinners or lead core with plugs over the old lake shoreline, across flooded roads and over submerged structure seems to producing great results.
