These fish are feeding just a few feet below the surface. Breaking down the simple flatline trolling system with planer boards, shallow-running stickbaits, and crankbaits to cover water and find active fish.

Plenty of walleyes are being caught and the nice crappie bite has continued. Plenty of people are starting to switch over to more typical summertime presentations, such as pulling plugs and bottom-bouncing.

Some stable conditions this past week but things look to be changing as we look ahead. Regardless, we have some consistent patterns developing as we focus on late spring into early summer.

The key element is using the right jig at the right time.
