Fishing action starts to slow as hunting becomes the focus. Here’s a look at the New York fishing and hunting report on Aug. 28, 2029.

For the past weekend, most boaters headed offshore looking for scattered salmon and stable conditions. What they generally found was a really good steelhead bite.

Fishing success on the west end of Lake Erie has been very good over the past week, with anglers fishing over a wide area ranging from 100-500 feet deep.

Here we are in the late summer open-lake trolling season, and big kings are being netted both offshore and near shore.

Walleye fishing on Lake Erie is still phenomenal no matter what port you launch out of.

Summer fishing patterns continue with warmer temps. Here’s a look at the New York fishing report from across the state on Aug. 14, 2025.

Mixed bag chances are good, and there are definitely some big, mature kings coming over the gunwales.
