Forget catching walleyes during these hot dog days of summer, right? Not necessarily. Here’s how – and where – you can target and catch those walleyes this time of year.

It certainly feels like we’re already at that point of the summer where you take what a given lake is willing to give up.

The warm weather showed back up, but the summer patterns remain the same. We’re finding fish schooled-up more and more. Put the miles on this past week and found some more consistencies across the area.

Crappies and bluegills continue making transitions to deeper waters that include some nice cabbage. Here’s how they’re being caught.

We are now in the 2-week walleye closure on Lake Mille Lacs. It has been a fantastic season so far. The smallmouth bite will continue to get better and better. I am seeing fish all

Finally some “average” weather. Summer patterns continue, though, and we’re finding fish in likely spots. Presentations continue to look toward summer, but there are some specific tactics to consider for more bites.

For the most part, many areas reported excellent fishing for a variety of species along established weed edges or weed flats. This is even more true for bigger panfish, bass, and pike, and walleyes.
