Fox River: The water temps have dropped quite a bit. Some reports of walleyes showing up at the McHenry Dam as well as other key walleye areas throughout the river. Jig and minnows worked slowly
Lake Ontario: Steelhead and brown trout were being taken in the tributaries. Try egg imitations or egg sacs. Oneida Lake: When weather allows, the shore bite for walleyes should still be going. Try casting stick
Cayuga Lake: Yellow perch were being caught in the north end on minnows. Seneca Lake: Yellow perch were hitting on small minnows and plastics. The northern third of the lake has been productive for perch.
Typically this is the time when some waters might lock up, such as Lake Colby in Saranac Lake. That hadn’t happened as of press time, but keep an eye on ice conditions and the possibility
The keeper-sized stripers have largely moved out of the area, with larger fish reported along the South Jersey shore. There were numerous smaller stripers being taken from both the boat and beach, but few keepers.
Nothing happening on the fishing front that we’ve heard, with the focus on the muzzleloader deer season now.
Hunting season has pushed fishing to the backburner, so really not a lot to report.
Beaverkill and Willowemoc: Only no-kill stretches are open now. Streamers and nymphs fished slow will be most productive. Delaware West Branch: River above the game lands closed. Delaware Main Stem: Running high at last check.
St. Lawrence River: Not hearing much of late. Black Lake: Nothing to report on the fishing front now, and probably won’t be until safe ice arrives.
