Low water level expected on Minnesota’s Lake Christina during duck hunting seasons

The Minnesota DNR cautioned that waterfowl hunting access will likely be a challenge this year on Lake Christina in Douglas County due to a lower water level than expected.
The DNR said the low water level stems from a planned management drawdown followed by unforeseen moderate drought conditions. Significant rainfall will be needed between now and the waterfowl season openers to measurably improve access.

Clinton County volunteer is the Michigan DNR hunter education instructor of 2022

Doug Hastings, of Bath, is the Michigan DNR 2022 Hunter Education Instructor of the Year. Last year, Hastings instructed 700 students.
Hunter education teaches the next generation of hunters how to enjoy safe, responsible hunting and understand the importance of wildlife management. The DNR-managed program teaches lifelong skills, such as firearm safety, basic first aid and how to use a map and compass, to an average of 15,000 Michigan students per year.

Woodie Camp was once again in session recently, with 35 youngsters learning the ins and outs of conservation, hunting, and all that is the outdoors of Minnesota at the Prairie Wetlands Learning Center located near Fergus Falls.
It was the 33rd edition of Woodie Camp, which began in 1989 but was on hold in 2020 and 2021. The camp was started by the Minnesota Waterfowl Association, and the Fergus Falls Fish and Game Club now conducts the camp.
