Long-time NYS Master Hunter Education instructor Ralf Hartmann, of Bloomingdale in Essex County, has been selected by the International Hunter Education Association as New York State’s Instructor of the Year.
Henry Repeating Arms Founder and CEO Anthony Imperato recently honored Hartmann for his exceptional contributions to hunter education and firearms safety. In recognition of his achievements, Imperato presented Hartmann with a custom serial-numbered Henry Side Gate Lever Action Rifle chambered in .360 Buckhammer.

The high demand for spring turkey hunting opportunities on New York DEC-managed lands in Suffolk County makes it necessary for Long Island turkey hunters to follow specific access procedures to ensure equal hunting opportunities for all.

The Michigan DNR announced on Thursday that for the first time in more than 100 years, cougar cubs have been discovered living in the Michigan wild.
State biologists on Wednesday confirmed the existence of two cougar cubs on private land in Ontonagon County in the western Upper Peninsula. The spotted cubs, believed to be 7 to 9 weeks old, were verified from photos of the cubs taken March 6 by a local resident.
