Critical vote on Minnesota’s BWCA watershed mining resolution likely later today

A Congressional resolution affecting the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in Minnesota that passed the U.S. House in January could see a critical vote in the Senate today. 
An up-or-down vote on House Joint Resolution 140 will either repeal a 20-year moratorium on copper-sulfide mining in the Rainy River watershed around the BWCA, or allow that Biden-era decision to stand.

Illinois NWTF restoring grasslands for turkeys at Camp Big Sky

In west-central Illinois, a small patch of land is poised to make a big difference for wild turkeys and other wildlife.
Through support from the Illinois NWTF State Chapter, NWTF volunteers and partners are restoring habitat at Camp Big Sky in Fulton County, transforming former brome grass fields into thriving native grasslands that will provide critical nesting and brooding cover for wild turkeys.

Idaho Fish and Game commissioner pleads not guilty to poaching bull elk

Brody Harshbarger, a sitting member of the Idaho Fish and Game Commission, has pleaded not guilty to seven hunting-related misdemeanor charges following a poaching investigation.
Investigators allege that Harshbarger, along with another suspected poacher, illegally shot and abandoned two elk in December 2025.
